Three truths nobody will tell you:
1-Almost all venues use pre-made sheet cakes and off the shelf ingredients because it is fast and cheap.
2-Your cake is not included in your package at your venue, you are using a credit to purchase it. If you choose an outside cake vendor, they will offer (or you have to insist) you get a credit for something else. Take it!
3-People remember one single item from the food at weddings. Spend your budget on a single food item that will WOW them.

OK, on to Marney. I met Marney a few years ago and she totally edumacated me about what goes on in a commercial kitchen and the difference in taste and texture of a freshly prepared cake crafted with real, honest ingredients by a skilled foodie. I was floored.
